Stewardship

2018 Annual Committment

“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
1 Peter 4:10

Dear Parishioner:

We thank all the parishioners of Blessed Sacrament for their stewardship in supporting God’s work here in our parish.

Stewardship involves the choices we make every day: how we spend our time, what we do with the skills and talents God has given us, how we care for the environment, and what we do with our money.  Your stewardship defines Blessed Sacrament Church.  Your contributions are our primary source of income.  Your volunteer efforts drive our church ministries.

Please share your blessings and give to God first and abundantly.   Your financial contributions to Blessed Sacrament enable us to:

  • Celebrate our liturgy and faith;
  • Provide faith-formation programs for all ages;
  • Offer sacramental preparation programs;
  • Ensure the pastoral care of the sick;
  • Champion parish outreach to the poor and needy in our community, and to work for social justice for those individuals;
  • Enhance and cultivate our many and varied parish ministries; and
  • Manage the maintenance requirements of our more than 100-year old facilities.

Making a commitment to pledge a specific contribution for the coming year, helps us to prepare a budget to finance our work in an organized and realistic way.  Some Catholics choose the biblical norm of giving 10% of their treasure (known as tithing) to the Church and other charitable organizations in the community.  Some give more.  Others might start at 2-4%.  Give prayerful thought to the amount you should give to the Blessed Sacrament.  When you know in your heart that you have been completely honest with yourself and with God, then your contribution is the right amount to give.

We are asking to each parishioner to pledge a contribution for Calendar Year 2018 with designation of the frequency of the contribution.  Contributions may be made through the envelope system, or you may designate using either regular electronic transfer from a bank account or by using a credit card.  That information is contained on the attached “2018 Annual Stewardship Commitment” form.

The attached brochure explains the many opportunities for you to offer your time and talent to support our various ministries and committees which support our worship life, our faith-formation activities as well as our parish social life.  We encourage you to again give prayerful consideration to being more involved in carrying out the mission of the parish.  You may designate your commitment by completing the “Blessed Sacrament Time and Talent Interest Form”.

With hope that God’s grace will give us the courage to be good stewards of God’s many blessings,

Rev. Paul R. Bossi
Pastor
